HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Lelia Cordero, we missed your birthday, so a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We would also like to wish Wendy Cintron, Kenneth Yunger, Joe D’Agostino, Ann Kiss, Donna Giuliano, Mariss Nappi, Donna Vitucci, Debra Anabrosini, Roger True, Emek Ramos and Michael Zellers a Happy Birthday.

Let’s get down to business
Great Big Thank you:
We would like to thank all our volunteers, Jean Enssle, Terry Intini, Kenneth Younger, Diane Ruggiano, Donna Darling, and Sharon Friedman for giving their time and doing a great job with the Smoke Detector Testing.

The power washing of the community has been completed and the repair of the concrete slabs has been completed as well.

Winter months:
THE INVASION OF SEWER/FRUIT FLIES:
Due to the mild winter, the insect population has had an increase in their reproductive cycle. Throughout the community, residents have noticed sewer flies in their homes and surroundings. These insects lay their eggs in unused or infrequently used water pipes and drains. A simple solution to rid your home of these tiny pests is to pour 1 cup of bleach down each drain in your home once a week until the invasion has ceased. Remember to check your patios and balconies for pooled water areas and drain them of standing water to also control the mosquito population from laying eggs. During mild winters insects survive. Our pest control contractor Gene recently told me “When you save on your snow budget in the winter you spend on insect control in the summer.” How true is that!

Snowbirds
• Be sure to leave a key with someone and let your board or front desk know with whom, (in case of an emergency requiring us to get inside). Leave a number where you can be reached with our Secretary Ann Kiss.
• Turn off the circuit breaker to the water heater, turn off the water to the toilet commodes, and add a ¼ cup of bleach to the remaining water in the toilet.
• Shut off the water to washing machines and dishwashers where possible, to avoid any leaks or broken hoses while you are away
• Set your thermostat to 55 degrees,
• Be sure all patio furniture is secure so it can’t be blown around, leave gate open, and remove any door mats to allow for snow removal to your door.
• Be sure the hose bib is turned off and remove any hose attachments to allow water to drain out.
• Unplug all electric connections (cable, appliances, etc.)
• Prevent your home from appearing unoccupied. Forward your mail, stop newspaper delivery,
• Confirm that your alarm systems are in working order and have been activated.
• Secure external doors and windows with deadbolt locks, security-type hinges. Install slide locks or other equivalent security locks on sliding glass doors.
• Store valuables that you are not taking with you in a safe deposit box or other secure offsite location.
• Avoid posting your vacation or travel plans on social media sites, as potential thieves can use that information to learn when your house will be vacant.
• Clean your home thoroughly to help discourage new “pests” from moving in.
• Clean, defrost, and unplug refrigerators and freezers, wiping them dry and leaving doors propped open to prevent mildew. Also, clean the oven
• If leaving a car here. Please park in Condo V Long Term Parking areas on Birchwood and Woodland areas. That said, have a great winter.

The Condo V Board will not be meeting from December 2024 until April 2025. If you have any problems you can call the Secretary, Ann Kiss, or put in a work order and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Condo V would like to wish all residents and their families a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.
The World has become more crazy and cruel than ever, in the last few years. The compassion people had for one another is less evident. This is the time of year I like to remind everyone to think about their neighbors and those less fortunate. This is the month for giving thanks and sharing with those who are not as fortunate as you may be. Please remember those who don’t have family and will be alone for the holiday. Think about Opening your heart and your home to them. Remember those who do not have a warm home or bed to lie in or that are homeless. Please show them some kindness through food or money donations. I know times are hard for everyone but We are all connected in this life. Every little bit helps. Be grateful as it is the best attitude!
