Let’s get down to Business
We are on our way back to spring and summer. We were very lucky with the extremely mild winter we had this year which did not require us to spend our budgeted monies on snow removal. However, nature always finds a way to get us to spend that money.
Water Bibs:
By now, all the hose bibs should be turned on. Power washing of the buildings, sidewalks, and retainer walls will start soon and water is needed to conduct this work.
Mulch:
The condo V board has voted that we will not be putting down mulch this year. The cost of placing mulch down is over $20,000.00 and that money can be used to address the costly drainage issues throughout our condo.
Community Entrance:
There are residents in our community who have had to have their car passes suspended by their condo board for one reason or another. While you enter the secondary gate on Daryl Drive, please slow down to let the gate close behind you so that those who are not permitted (squatter and those with suspended car passes)into the community can’t piggyback into the community behind you. If you see this, please report it to the guard shack so they can monitor that entrance and call the police when necessary.
How to remove a tick from you or your pet:
1. Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin’s surface as possible.
2. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don’t twist or jerk the tick; this can cause the mouth parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth parts with tweezers. If you cannot remove the mouth easily with tweezers, leave it alone and let the skin heal.
3. After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.
4. Never crush a tick with your fingers. Dispose of a live tick by
o Putting it in alcohol,
o Placing it in a sealed bag/container,
o Wrapping it tightly in tape, or
o Flushing it down the toilet
Follow-up
If you develop a rash or fever within several weeks of
removing a tick, see your doctor:
• Tell the doctor about your recent tick bite,
• When the bite occurred, and
• Where you most likely acquired the tick.
For your pet, follow the same procedure just wash the area of the tick bite with warm soapy water when you have removed the tick. You may want to keep the tick in case of issues with your pet. Be sure you document the date of the tick bite on you or your pet.
Avoid folklore remedies such as “painting” the tick with nail polish or petroleum jelly, or using heat to make the tick detach from the skin. Your goal is to remove the tick as quickly as possible–not waiting for it to detach.
SMOKE ALARMS:
Twice a year, we check our smoke alarms and this is done for the safety of our residents. Our volunteers will be calling those on their list. If a message is left, please contact the volunteer as soon as you get the call. Most of the alarms can be checked with our volunteers on the phone by pressing the test alarm button so they can hear it sound off. The test will take you literally 5 minutes if that. A volunteer will contact you only twice. If you do not call back the volunteer within a week from the second call, you will be fined $100.
This is a serious matter for which the Fire Marshall is holding the Condo V board accountable for conducting these tests. Therefore, we need your cooperation to complete this task.
Elections:
Condo 5 Board Elections will be conducted in the month of June. There are 3 board positions available. If you are interested in running for an open position, please fill out an application form which will be available on May 1st at the HOA office. All the applications must be submitted to the HOA office by May 10th. If you are mailing in the application, it must be postmarked or dropped off at the HOA office by May 10th, 2024. Any applications received after May 10th, will not be accepted.
The Condo V Board has begun meeting again, monthly.
