HOA Highlights

                    HOA Highlights from the President

We are all saddened by the news that Kathy & Frank Daum’s son, Bradley, suddenly died on Friday evening, August 6th.  He also leaves his wife, Leslie and two very young children.  Most of our Home Owners know Kathy since she has been in our employ more than 24 years, first working in the office and then as receptionist and the Editor of our Brettonews.  Our prayers and condolences are extended to Kathy and her family as they work through this trying time.

A Special Note to Parents of Children of All Ages.  There are Members of the HOA Board who are interested in knowing how many children we have in the complex and their ages.  There are four (4) Tot Lots for the smaller children up to 12 years of age, but there has been little to offer to the children older than 12 other than swimming, the basketball court, shuffle board and billiards.  Perhaps a bigger and better basketball court could be considered and/or a golf club for teenagers or other types of clubs.  May we hear from some of you parents of teenagers or the teenagers themselves?  Please drop a note addressed to the President of the HOA with your thoughts and ideas.

Your HOA Board of Directors is very happy to see the nice turn-out of Homeowners who are attending our monthly Open HOA Board meeting.  It is giving the Homeowners an opportunity to see the Board in action and also to be able to participate in decisions being made on the spot.  It is your money that is being spent for the repair and maintenance of the common property -- you deserve to have some input as time goes on.  By the time you are reading this article, you will have had the opportunity on August 23rd to attend the meeting for the presentation of our budget for the calendar year effective October 1, 2010 thru September 20, 2011.

On September 21st, there will be a meeting of the Association for the purpose of appointing nine (9) members to the HOA Board of Directors.  All Home Owners have received in the mail a letter and application for your completion if you are interested in being appointed to the HOA Board.  The reason for the letter of application being sent to all Home Owners is so that everyone interested will have the opportunity of letting all Condo Boards know of your interest and why you feel you have the background needed to serve on the HOA Board.  All applications received will be copied and forwarded to the nine (9) Condo Boards of Managers advising them of your qualifications and willingness to serve our community. Perhaps it is not necessary that the applications be returned by certified mail as requested in the letter, but it is important to know of your interest.  The HOA Board of Directors job is to oversee and maintain the common properties in the best interest of all Homeowners.  We need members who can offer professional business experience to manage this community and if you are interested, please let your individual condo boards know.

It has been pointed out to me that I made an error in the Brettonews article stating that parking would be allowed on the West side of Bretton Woods Drive.  It is my understanding that according to the Town of Brookhaven Traffic and Safety Department, we are not allowed to park on either side of Bretton Woods Drive.  Al has requested a review of this area in view of the fact that our clubhouse parking is minimal in comparison to the many homeowners and visitors who wish to park near the clubhouse.  Unless we receive a decision different to what it is at this time, PARKING IS NOT ALLOWED ON EITHER SIDE OF BRETTON WOODS DRIVE.  There are No Parking signs along this road; you will be receiving notices and if it continues you will be towed at your own expense.  In addition, parking is also not allowed around the Clubhouse where we have No Parking signs.  For whatever reason, we are seeing people continuously ignore these signs.  You will be towed if this continues – no excuses.

Don’t forget to attend the next HOA Open Board Meeting on September 14th at 7:00 p.m. and also the Association meeting for the appointment of next year’s HOA Board members on September 21st.

ENJOY THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY PARTY AROUND THE POOL
