Administrator's Report

From the desk of Allen Olsen

                                                                                                    September 2010

September is already here, summer is over already. The summer season went fast as usual and before you know it the kids will be back at school. That being said, drive carefully and SLOW DOWN, more and more residents are out walking around the community. Since we do not have sidewalks in Bretton Woods, residents walk in the roadways.

Parking, parking, parking, it seems this is a hot topic in Bretton Woods. Parking at the clubhouse is very limited. Areas designated as NO PARKING areas are done so because of a reason, usually ingress and egress. Parking in these areas, including the Service and Delivery Area, will result in your vehicle being ticketed and possibly towed at your expense. Handicap Parking is clearly marked with signs at the clubhouse and parking should only be in those areas, if authorized.  A Handicap Parking Permit does not give the driver authorization to park in any Fire Zone or other NO PARKING area; vehicles will be ticketed and towed.

Parking along Bretton Woods Drive on the east and west side of the road is not allowed. NO PARKING signs are posted. This area is being discussed with the Town of Brookhaven Traffic and Safety Department to try and relieve some of the parking issues at the clubhouse. Until the NO PARKING signs are removed, vehicles can be and will be ticketed and towed, park at your own risk.

The Cablevision Re-wire Project continues to move along. All residents that need to have their units re-wired are to contact Ed Jensen at 1-240-848-3797 for an appointment, only Saturday appointments will be scheduled.  If the wiring is not completed during this phase of the entire project, any re-wiring after the completion will be at the cost of the resident. This re-wiring project is to ensure each resident gets all that Cablevision has to offer for internet as well as High Definition TV and it is at no cost for now.

The outdoor pools will be closing soon. The pools will be open on weekends only during the month of September, weather permitting. The indoor pools will re-open in September. The indoor pool will be open Monday through Friday and only open on Saturday or Sunday if the outdoor pool is closed. The hours of operation will be posted in the clubhouse.

The summer season on the pool deck went very well thanks to Craig and the pool staff. The new Salt Chlorine Generators were installed and operational with little or no service interruption. This season the deck and pools were used quite often because of the hot and humid summer season we had. Thanks to the staff for keeping the entire area clean, neat and ready for use.

The Maintenance Staff remains very busy getting work orders completed for the HOA, Condos and residents. Before you know it, the staff will be completing fall maintenance items and getting ready for the dreaded “s” word.

The Golf Staff has been very busy as well. They have kept the course in great shape considering the hot and humid weather. There have been many articles written about turf and greens and how they suffer in this type of weather. The staff stayed on top of the situation and the course looks great. Thanks to Matt, Chris and the entire Golf Staff.

The Annual Labor Day festivities will take place on the pool deck on September 6th; make plans to attend this end of summer bash. Enjoy the last few days or weeks of summer on the pool deck or on the golf course. Remember School is Open, slow down and watch for the children and residents on the community roads.

September is a busy month with Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur being observed, Labor Day as well as the First Day of Autumn, Enjoy.
